The High Level Group on gender mainstreaming in Bratislava

 

The High Level Group on gender mainstreaming is an informal group created in 2001 and comprises high-level representatives responsible for gender mainstreaming at national level. It is chaired by the European Commission at regular meetings convened in close collaboration with the Presidency. On September 7-8th, the group´s meeting has been held in Bratislava.

Among its main tasks, the Group supports the trio-presidencies in identifying relevant policy areas and topics to be addressed.The Group is also the main forum for planning the strategic follow-up of the Beijing Platform for Action, including the development of indicators.Since 2003 the Group has also been assisting the Commission in the preparation of the Report on equality between women and men to the European Council.
